Our Project
The IU BusBot is an app that will be used as a sort or personal assistant that will assist a student by telling them which bus stop to go to and will alert them when they need to leave the house. This app will start off by asking for user input including where the student lives, what their class schedule is, and where each of their classes are. The IU BusBot will give daily alerts about when the student should leave for their nearest bus stop to get to class. This app can automatically track the bus in reference to the student’s location and class schedule, and it will suggest leave times so that the student can get to campus without any fears or anxieties of barely missing the bus. Additionally, bus drivers will be able to alert students of bus delays or route cancellations, as we found that this is a common issue that turns students away from using the campus bus system.
We, the creators of IU BusBot, wanted to make sure that people felt heard and seen. We did this by making the app more user-friendly where you do not have to throw your phones or search up a YouTube video to understand how the app works. Secondly, we added a feature to give you reminders to make sure you are able to catch the bus without fear of missing it.
